IntelliPro™ 4 x 160 High Performance PumpThe most valuable investment you can make in your pool! Too Good To Be True? At first glance, the IntelliPro™ 4x160 programmable, variable speed pump looks too good to be true.
It dramatically reduces energy use and saves money. It features nearly silent operation. It protects itself from damage and promises longer service life for greater value. It typically allows the change or addition of pool equipment without the need to buy a bigger or additional pump. It lets you alert the performance of water features to vary the sights and sounds around your poolscape.
By contrast, traditional one-and two-speed pumps can be very inefficient. To begin with, they use less efficient motors. Plus, they "overpower" all but the single most demanding application they must serve, wasting energy by working much harder than needed at their high, factory-set, non-adjustable speeds. IntelliPro™ 4x160 offers a super-efficient, higher technology motor and four settable and adjustable speeds (from 400 to 3450 RPM). So now you can optimize pump performance for different jobs with a single pump, such as running your filter, your waterfall, your spa, your automatic pool cleaner, etc. In every case, you supply the exact water flow to assure proper performance while minimizing energy use. A Key Concept: Slower Is Better To appreciate why IntelliPro™ 4x160 is such a valuable investment, remember the story of "The Tortoise and the Hare" and a basic law of pump operation: operating slower and longer is better. It takes far less energy to move water slowly than quickly. In fact, reducing pump speed by half actually reduces the power needed by three-quarters. It's much like operating your car. You get far greater fuel mileage at 30 mph than at 90 mph. Go slower and engine noise is reduced. Go slower and create less heat for less engine stress and wear and tear. All these advantages are gained with IntelliPro™ 4x160 because you set the lowest speed needed to get a job done. And the results are dramatic and multi-dimensional. Energy cost reductions of 30% are typical and larger savings are common. Savings today can equal hundreds of dollars per year (see chart). Savings in the future will increase as rates go up. This ability to conserve energy is why many utility companies are offering rebates to get these pumps installed. Contact your utility company to see if incentives are available in your area. Enhanced equipment performance- By running slower and longer they help reduce algae growth when water is at rest for longer periods. Longer runs at lower flow rates also help make filters more effective because the filter has more time to strip particles from the water. Automatic chemical dispensers and salt chlorinators also work better when water moves for longer periods. Whisper-quiet operation- IntelliPro™ 4x160 features a high-tech motor (totally enclosed fan-cooled [TEFC] with permanent magnet synchronous motor [PMSM] design). This is a big reason why, unless you stand next to IntelliPro™ 4x160, you may not hear it at all. A whisper is about 20 decibels. A typical pool pump emits about 70 to 80 decibels. IntelliPro operates at only 7 to 10 decibels, or half the sound of a whisper! And when you consider that IntelliPro™ 4x160 can replace multiple pumps, the opportunity for noise reduction is truly remarkable. Longer equipment life- because your pool pro makes sure IntelliPro™ 4x160 never works harder than it has to, the pump runs cooler. This helps critical parts wear much longer, greatly extending pump life and increasing your return on investment. Protects itself against damage- thanks to advanced self-diagnostic capability, IntelliPro™ 4x160 protects itself against conditions that could lead to pump damage or failure, such as loss of prime, overheating, freezing, and common voltage irregularities. This feature further protects your investment and increases the overall value of IntelliPro™ 4x160. Customize and change your water features- dial pump speed up or down and change the height of a fountain or the flow of a waterfall. IntelliPro™ 4x160 allows you to vary the sights and sounds of your poolscape environment. Now you can see why so many pool pros and pool owners are turning to these innovative, technology-rich pumps from Sta-Rite. They sound too good to be true, but they're actually the best investment you can make for energy conservation, utility savings and superior pool equipment operation. Flexibility and control made simple
Programming IntelliPro™ 4x160 is as easy as setting your alarm clock. With the pump running, simply press one of the four speed buttons to display the current speed setting. (Factory settings are 750, 1500, 2350, and 3110 RPM's). Then, just press the "Up" or "Down" button to increase or decrease that speed setting. Since IntelliPro™ 4x160 can be adjusted to run at any speed between 400 RPM and 3450 RPM, you optimize water flow for any application. (Your pool professional can make a simple calculation to determine the perfect speed settings.) As you add new equipment or features, settings can be easily changed to ensure the lowest amount of energy consumption.
How much will you save? The chart below will provide you with a quick estimate of how much IntelliPro™ 4x160 can save you each year. Calculations are based on comparison with a typical system, running at 60 feet of total head, and using an energy-efficient (EE), full-rated pool pump. Yearly savings are based on a 365-day pool season. To estimate savings for shorter seasons, multiply the savings by the percent of the time your pool is open (e.g. 9 months = 75%, 8 months = 67%, 7 months = 58%). In every case, you'll find that IntelliPro™ 4x160 delivers dramatic savings that will grow as energy rates increase.
Energy savings chart
Note: Standard pump costs based on a typical per-day run time. IntelliPro™ 4x160 run times are based on the time required for one complete turn of the pool water per day.
